The Centre has worked
with the CRC Association to establish a Graduate Certificate in
Research and Commercialisation which provides training tailored
to the needs of postgraduate students and researchers in CRCs.
The course seeks to teach benchmark best practice in managing
the research and commercialisation process in its stages from
analysing identified needs or opportunities for new technology,
through project selection, successfully managing the research
phase and maximising the commercial outcomes.
The course is being
delivered through the Australian Technology Network (Curtin
University, QUT, RMIT, University of South Australia, and
University of Technology Sydney). It involves completion of four
units over two years on a part-time basis. Each unit will
require ~100 hours work and includes assessment tasks which you
can relate to your work in the CRC. Much of the content is
provided on-line. It is intended that this study can be
completed outside normal working hours. This qualification will
articulate to higher qualifications (e.g. MBA courses at the ATN
institution that you enrol in, or a Masters in Research
Commercialisation provided through the ATN).
The course costs $8800.
The CRC for Polymers will provide scholarships for up to 10
CRC-P funded researchers and up to 10 CRC-P funded postgraduate
students to undertake the course. In addition to providing
scholarship support for completing all four units, the Centre
will also provide some funding for those members who wish to
undertake only selected units.
